Reflexology & Bowen Therapy in Bristol
Reflexology is a non-intrusive therapy that encourages the body to restore and maintain its natural equilibrium. This in turn promotes healing and well-being. Dating back to Ancient Egypt, India and China, Reflexology is today a mainstream therapy recognised by the NHS and many GPs and hospices in the UK.
Reflexology is based on the principle that all areas of your body and its internal organs are linked to specific areas of your feet and hands. Reflexologists are trained to detect imbalances and tension in these areas. They then apply pressure on these points, which unblocks vital energy pathways. This restores the free flow of energy to your whole body, thus enabling your body to heal itself.
After only one or two treatments, your body may respond in a very definite way.
This is a way of addressing common ailments quickly and effectively. Vertical Reflex Therapy (VRT) is carried out on the top of the feet whilst the client is standing. Precise reflex points (e.g those linked to the neck, shoulder or back) are worked on, and pain and other symptoms may be alleviated quickly and effectively. VRT can be carried out as a stand-alone treatment (20 minute session) or as part of a more conventional treatment.
Nerve Reflexology (NR) is an advanced manual treatment. It is very powerful in helping resolve back, joint and muscle pain, and problems with our organs, such as digestive problems. This is a way of working on precise and detailed reflexes to balance and restore coordination between the different parts of the nervous system. The quick impulses conveyed via the nerves ‘kick start’ the whole system and the body becomes much more receptive to further treatment. Nerve Reflexology is particularly effective for long-standing health and pain issues. During a treatment, NR is combined with classical foot reflexology.
Reflexology may help anyone, from newborn babies to the elderly, who is suffering from any kind of long- or short-term physical pain or stress. Treatments are also safe for pregnant women and those undergoing chemotherapy.
As Reflexology works to improve blood circulation and balance hormones, it may be of particular benefit in helping with hormonal imbalances as well as migraines and digestive complaints.
After completing a course of Reflexology treatment for a specific condition, many people find it beneficial to have monthly treatments to maintain health and well-being.
"I've been seeing Anne for over a year now... I think her combination of technique and support are second to none. When I became pregnant I found my sessions with her were vital to help me relax and cope with all that pregnancy threw at me. I now have a bouncing baby girl, but I still try to find time to see Anne regularly - her sessions are invaluable."
